Faith 2020 calls on the GSA to officially start our Presidential Transition as a matter of the common good
Faith 2020 calls on the General Services Administration (GSA) and its Administrator, Emily Murphy, to officially recognize the results of the 2020 Election and “ascertain” Joe Biden as the President-elect. The GSA’s defiance around the Presidential transition is not simply a political crisis, but a profoundly moral one that has ramifications for millions of American’s daily lives. With dire consequences in public health and economic well-being amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, it is now time for the GSA to officially confirm what the American public has known for two weeks — Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will be our next President and Vice-President and their Transition Team must now receive official protocols to obtain critical information from government officials as a matter of the common good.
Time is of the essence in this season of transition and public well-being. Now is the time for the GSA to officially act as a matter for the common good.
“The American people deserve moral leadership at all levels of our Federal government to help us weather what looks to be a long, dark winter around the pandemic,” said Rev. Adam Nicholas Phillips, Executive Director of Faith 2020. “It’s time for GSA administrator Emily Miller to formally ascertain Joe Biden as President-elect so that his Transition Team can begin to coordinate a Coronavirus response for vaccines and economic assistance during one of our nation’s most profound crises. Anything short of such action is without ‘true faith and allegiance’ to uphold the Constitution and greater good of the nation.”
Faith 2020 Board Chair Rev. Frederick A. Davie said, “Time is of the essence in this season of transition and public well-being. It’s imperative that the GSA ascertains now what we all know to be true: Joe Biden is President-elect and Kamala Harris is the Vice President-elect. This critical action by the Federal government of ascertainment will go a long way to ensure the public good is best served as we look for signs of hope amidst the tragic Covid-19 and economic crises.”
